History and Impressions
The history behind the Cabanachair originated in Northern Germany more than 120 years ago. It was there when the summer season was short and the wind often times ferocious that the chair was inspired by inclement weather, flying sand and over exposure to the sun. The design of the chair ultimately filled a need for Mrs. Elise Bartelmann, an elderly lady who requested that her husband design a chair that would protect her from the elements and offer privacy as well. Mr. William Bartleman, husband of Mrs. Elise Bartlemann, developed and built the chair in 1882 calling it the "Strandkorb". The comfortable beach basket style chair was exactly what his wife required, providing an air of privacy, comfort and unique design. Today, approximately 70,000 chairs line the beaches at the North and Baltic seas offering cozy protection based on the stringent requirements of the Baltic Sea Bath Federation. This so called "Strandkorb" conquered the other countries in europe in the last decade and found its typically name "cabanachair". Who will stop this exceptional successtory?. Allowing for reading, snuggling with a loved one, playing a game of chess or simply relaxing, the trend setting design is the perfect match for any outdoor, beach or garden enthusiast. Its universal appeal has gained wide acceptance in resort communities around the world.
